New, old stock hard cover book binding kit for converting three paperback books into hardcover books.
This little kit claims to require no tools and no skill. Well, I think it probably requires some skill, but not too much. It's a perfect way to make your skanky romance or pulp detective novels look highbrow when you're reading them on your lunch break. Or maybe you would rather preserve something a little more meaningful - I'll leave that up to you.
If you've ever been to an estate sale full of crazy items like hardback books that turn out to be TV Guides or Reader's Digests, they probably used a kit like this.
I did not open the kit to check on the innards, but the kit looks to be complete and in great condition. You may want to have a back-up plan for the adhesive though because the glue may no longer be usable.
The kit includes spine materials and cardboard covers with "simulated cloth", whatever that is. It also includes "gold-tone titling materials." That's probably gold-colored foil bits.
The covers measure 5-1/2 inches wide and 8-1/4 inches tall. You should choose (or make) paperback books just a little smaller than that.
This kit has red covers with a dark red spine.
