Vogue 1897 Pattern 12 Loose Fit Blouson Top Skirt Givenchy Vintage 1980s Cut Complete

size 12
copyright 1987

Sewing pattern to make: Top and Skirt. Very loose-fitting, pullover, blouson top has shoulder pads, front band, side opening, bias-shaped loop and above elbow sleeves or long sleeves with button cuffs. Straight skirt, below mid-knee, has waistband, gathers and darts and side zipper.

I bought this pattern secondhand. The envelope is damaged as shown, and the pattern is cut and complete, and includes directions.

On the back of the envelope, you are encouraged to ask at the pattern counter for a Vogue Paris Originals label to sew into your completed garment. You can ask me if you like, but I don't have a label to give you, sorry! No, I'm not really sorry because why would you want that anyway? I guess the pattern was designed by a designer and all that, and then you bought the pattern, but if you make the garment yourself, isn't that really the point? Maybe you would want to put in a label with your own name, but why Vogue Paris Original? Really, don't get me started. Oops, too late.

While we're on the subject of labels, back in the 1980s, fabric stores had pre-printed care labels that you could sew into your project. They gave them away but you had to ask for them. My mom and I were trying to figure out when they stopped handing these things out and our best guess was sometime in the 90s. I always had to have care labels sewn into my 4-H competition sewing projects, but I never used them otherwise, and as soon as the competition was over, I picked them out because they were so scratchy. There's probably a huge warehouse full of them collecting dust somewhere.

OK I'm done now.

Please send me any questions you may have, and thanks for looking.
